<aside> ✨ congratulations on being accepted to our makerspace residency!

as you settle in, a few things to hold onto…
you are not just a resident here; you are a steward. this home was made possible by hundreds of volunteers who came before you, each leaving behind a little more than they took. the walls, the floors, the strange small objects on the shelves.
on this page, we'll share a few important docs, like our stewardship guide to help you take care of the house while you're here, but the short version is: treat it like something that was loved into being, because it was.
while you're here, we hope you'll:
spend some time with the history of this place: the people, the seasons, the slow work that made it possible for you to walk in today
wander through our library of local wonders and interact with the whimsical objects scattered around the house as spatial invitations of interaction
leave something of your own for the next person to find. a note, a drawing, a small object, a recipe, a new ritual, anything that extends the conversation to future community members
akiya collective is held together by mutual aid, care, and love— not by financial exchange. that's the “architecture” that nourishes this place: social practice. every person who passes through is part of what keeps it standing.
this welcome is just the beginning of a series of love letters woven together in a house that can hold many more to come. we hope many conversations will be curated across time and people by this collective home of ours.
welcome to the community. welcome home.
