There will be enough accommodations to host 3-4 volunteers at any given point in time; there are additional volunteers in the nearby area or staying offsite who will be able to help out during the day
For volunteer accommodations + communal spaces, there are four Japanese-style rooms that double as common spaces during the day, and a sleeping area / couch on the 2nd floor. Depending on sleeping preferences, 1-2 people usually share a room, but there is enough area to really spread out.
One thing to note here, is that our showers are currently undergoing renovation. The finished timeline is mid-May to June 2026. Please read through Stewardship at Komoro Makerspace to get more details, and Chapter 1: Komoro Makerspace to find the space layout.

If you can, definitely get an IDP!! Walking to groceries, onsen, town central, etc is possible, but it will take roughly an hour one-way, and being able to drive a car will make your life way, way easier. Some people in our community are willing to share personal cars- please ask in the Discord ahead of time. Otherwise, for local rentals, Body Auto Sakurai is great (but $35/day can add up quite a lot)
Pay what you want: We never want cost to be a barrier. However, since we do operate a material space, we have expenses. Donate what you’d like to help keep the place going here. 100% of proceeds go toward the makerspace, rural revitalization, and supporting community events.
If you aren’t able to contribute financially, there are many other ways of contributing! See here: Stewardship at Komoro Makerspace. Makerspace House Rules
