1 our second week focused on exploring communities and inhabiting akiya. some highlights:

• visiting art residencies
• meeting self-governing communities
• explored an abandoned kiwi farm in Yugawara
• stayed in a 100+ year-old renovated house

akiyaDAO’s core mission is to create containers for creative flourishing, so we took the opportunity to meet with founders of art residencies for insight into their process

3 Beneath the legendary mt fuji, saruya art residency’s founder Tsuyoshi is working to revitalize ancient textile traditions, renovating akiya into makerspaces, hostels and creative cafes.

He wanders the town in search of akiya, collaborating with locals to promote restoration
