• 2 residencies run, in Izu and Nagano

Fall - Winter 2023

• locate a home by the new year
• purchasing steps + documentation: Purchasing as a US entity
• finalize sale and legal transfer

Spring - Winter 2024

• hosting build weeks: cleaning, garden work, structural renovations (instal a septic tank, demolition of second floor to expose the original kominka architecture), documenting artifacts for future sales, restore old furniture
• build community partnerships + satellite akiyas
• host proto-residency
• art installations for burning man japan
• acquire additional makerspace equipment
• after purchase and initial renovation steps, publish first draft of operational handbook
• assist community members to purchase property (2 new neighbors!)

Spring 2025

• finish renovations + house set up
  • furnish + finishing touches, make house “ready” for residence
• soft public launch aimed to be around sakura season the following year
  • house opening ceremony
  • hosting a community event event to celebrate the journey so far
  • using the crypto bar space to host a satellite launch party in tokyo
  • official citizenship / token release
• welcome first official AKIYA cohort in our new home
• start rolling out media content + more residency-based workstreams
