Agreements
- own your experience: honor yourself
- we must look out for ourselves + ask for what we want or desire. we invite you to continue your important habits / routines, and potentially even invite others to join you
- a healthy community is consisted of healthy individuals
- including if/when we need alone/recharge time
- agentic being + self-reliance
- this is a do-ocracy: “if you see something that needs to be done, do it”. in other words, do the things that you would do to take care of the house, as if you were living alone. if there are things you’d want to take the lead on, we invite you to as well
- mutual care and collaboration
- leave every space better than how you found it
- we expect people to extend mutual care and compassion, even through conflict, for general guidelines, please see conflict section below
- try to treat ourselves and others with kindness, curiosity, openness, courage, compassion - maximally possible
- participation with the house
- proactively propose activities we’d be interested in
- running workshops, or starting community votes / proposals of group treasury on different activities or events
- this can also include additional rituals that we want to add, in case we notice something that can be improved on a more frequent basis
- have fun!
General House Rules
- quiet hours: 10pm-6am
- no laundry during this time
- try to respect this in terms of showering as well, but not a hard / strict deadline
- no illegal substances in the house
- no sexual activities in the house
- simplifies things drastically - there’s limited privacy w thin shoji doors, and we want everyone to feel like the space is psychologically safe / also theirs
- hotels also nearby if u really need
- turn off ACs in rooms that are not in use
sharing spaces
-
rooms in the evening will be private with the assigned person / people in that room; otherwise, during the day they are public, and can be used for common rooms
- put away your futon every morning: this helps refresh the tatami mat space in the area you were sleeping in during the night
-
general intention + outline for spaces:
- all unused rooms can be used for private calls / meetings during the day, but default to the gray room on 2F
