<aside> 📣 I’m looking for 4-5 people to join the dedicated core contributor team for AKIYA. This is for people seriously interested in living in Japan, helping out with the rural revitalization crisis, and getting to do so with a community of brilliant + intentional creatives.

AKIYA is creating a community hub in Japan, and smoke signal for those aligned to find us. To do so, we would like to enlist your help in creating a structure to exist: both digitally (via open-sourcing an operations playbook) and physically (via establishing houses in Japan). Part of the role would require you to re-locate to our first community home to help out with renovations and meeting the team, for at least 1-2 months in 2024.

Because we will be based in Japan, we are reserving at least 1-2 spots for a native Japanese contributors.

We have enough grant money for the purchase of our home (up to ~10M yen), and plan to more to fund renovations and operations through community crowdsourcing. You’ll be able to live in this home for at least 3-6 months each year to help coordinate the community, cowork, and co-create with the magical residents that will pass through the home.

The duties for the core team include attending weekly meetings and being active in their chosen workstreams. Priority for the selected team will be given to those who are able to help lead one.

We are looking for help in the following workstreams:

• Government + Local Engagement: partnerships, biz dev, community efforts, government proposals, building our network to make sure healthy integration is enabled
• Real Estate Operations: facilitating finding + purchase of the homes, operations / logistics, house management
• Web3 / Tokeneconomics: tokeneconomics, ecosystem design, governance incentives
• Internal Governance + Community: project management, facilitating governance proposals + voting, community management, working with tokeneconomics team to translate this into interactions
• Marketing / Design: brand + vibe curation, social media outreach, digital asset creation, promotion of crowdfunded efforts

Inner Core Team Comp

• “earn-to-stay”: ecosystem tokens to stay in houses in our network, and potentially even ability to own one in the future
• share in community treasury of digital membership tokens (DAO equity; core team shares ~20%)
• more power for governance / voting for core activities, like where the first community house is located, or how we split and spend our collective treasury for future purchases
• being a steward in the network of homes + living there, exposed to amazing community of people and first-hand access to our resources
